About Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a system of medicine that involves treating the individual with highly diluted substances, given mainly in tablet form, with the aim of triggering the body’s natural system of healing. Each patient’s homeopath will prescribe the appropriate medicine based on their specific symptoms.

Based on the principle of ‘like with like,’ homeopathy treats symptoms by using small amounts of substances that cause those symptoms in large doses. For example, drinking too much coffee can cause sleeplessness and agitation, so according to this principle, when made into a homeopathic medicine, it could be used to treat people with these symptoms. Conventional medicine uses this concept sometimes, for example, Ritalin is used to treat patients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and pollen is sometimes used to de-sensitize allergic patients. The main difference between homeopathic and conventional medicines is that substances are diluted to extremely high concentrations, which makes them nontoxic.

Health Tips & Info

Millions of patients and thousands of homeopathic doctors claim that homeopathic treatment can heal acute and chronic conditions. In most cases, it may even offer a long-term to permanent cure, treating the disease from the source. Evidence of homeopathy’s effectiveness continues to accumulate. A number of research studies have found that approximately three-quarters of chronically ill patients reported feeling ‘moderately better’ or ‘much better at the end of treatment. The effects of homeopathy have been demonstrated to be similar to those of conventional treatments in several rigorous clinical trials.
